Counseling as an Investment

I believe that counseling is an investment in oneself...and is often the most positive and impactful life-altering investment that we can make.

Early in my own life, I had the immense good fortune to meet an inspirational, warm, and compassionate counselor ⎯ and made the decision then that I would always place a priority here.  Sometimes, it meant deciding to pay for a counseling session and forgoing something else. I’ve since found that taking care of the ‘inner me’ often means that I feel less pressure to change the ‘outer me’ because I’m so much more comfortable in my own skin.  On the flip side, I’ve also encountered many clients who wanted to spend more time, effort, and money on their ‘outer selves’ because, through counseling, they realized, “I AM worth it!”

Either way, counseling is an investment in oneself ⎯ and I remain committed to helping clients make the very, very most of that invaluable investment.

Counseling Fees

My standard fees for 60-minute counseling sessions are $180 for an Initial Assessment session and $160 for subsequent sessions.

I accept most employer-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) plans. I am NOT a provider for BCBS plans purchased on the healthcare marketplace (Blue Value, Blue Local, Blue Home, etc.). I also accept Carolina Behavioral Health Alliance (CBHA), the mental health coverage for employees of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Wake Forest University. Please feel free to contact me or your plan's administrator if you have any questions about your specific coverage.

Additionally, I am NOT a provider for Medicare or Medicaid.

I am happy to provide a ‘SuperBill’ for clients who would like to see me but for whom I am Out-of-Network; these clients are welcome to file their own insurance.

I reserve the right to negotiate fees and to set up payment plans in certain circumstances at my discretion.

I accept Cash, Check, & Credit Card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover).  Many Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) also provide Credit Cards that I am able to accept.

Many of Donna Hampton’s counseling clients have participated in the writing workshops I offer the bereaved. Without fail they rave about Donna ⎯ her fearless witnessing, her keen intuition, her gentle encouragement, her hopeful sparkle, and her wise counsel. I teach at hospices all over the country, and I’ve never worked with a more responsible and compassionate professional than Donna. I wish I could take her with me.
